Tilera GX3000 är 10 ggr effektivare än Intels Sandy Bridge

The TILE Gx-3000 chips are made on 40nm process technology (TSMC is the manufacturing partner), and feature 36, 64 or 100 cores running at 1 GHz to 1.5 GHz, up to 32MB of cache memory, two or four DDR3 memory controllers, two 10 GbE interfaces and a TDP of up to 48W.

According to Tilera, these new processors offer a 10-fold performance-per-watt advantage over Intel's Sandy Bridge CPUs (which are 32nm parts) and provide an estimated 50% reduction in total cost of ownership (TCO). The only problem is that they can't compete with Intel's chips, at least just yet. Things will change in Q3 through, as that's when the 36-core TILE Gx-3036 will make its debut (which is set to start sampling next month). For the 64- and 100-core models, we'll have to wait for Q1 2012.

Mja. Det är ju en ARM-baserad processor, så att den slår Sandy i effektivitet per watt är inget vidare förvånande.

Frågan är däremot om den klår Tegra eller Tesla, eftersom den är inne i samma sfär som de kommande processorerna från NVidia.
