When a current of 2.5V and more appears, the base layer emits photons. The photon stream becomes more intense along with the growth of the current strength, in a linear proportion. Thus, 10V voltage produces brightness over 1000 candela per square meter, which is two times more than present-day LCD screens offer (while the theoretically possible maximum is over 100,000 candela per square meter!). The intensity peak of the spectrum falls to 550nm wavelength. It corresponds to green light.
