In our testing we feel we were able to conclude that there is in fact a noticeable performance difference when using multiple high-end graphics cards on the x79 platform, regardless if it is more cores, memory bandwidth or PCIe lanes. For most gamers this isn’t going to translate into better performance because most cards are not going to saturate the PCIe lanes even when using a 4770K, which only has 16 PCIe lanes. High-end graphics cards will show some difference though, but in most cases even with dual core graphics cards the difference is going to be small. In our testing the largest increase we saw was just over 20%, which is a decent boost in performance. However, the frame rate was already over 130FPS, so while there could be some frame latency improvement the overall difference will not be noticeable to the human eye.
Men det är tydligen fortfarande rätt värt det att köra SLI med t.ex Haswell:
We always try to look at things from a real-world point of view and in that context there is not going to be a noticeable difference between 130FPS and 150FPS in Battlefield 3. Both of those frame rates are well above what the human eye is capable of viewing. In this context the 4770K is the way to go and the cheaper one to boot. This review is more for the people in the 1% who can spend $5,000 on a computer and another $1,000 on monitors. In these extreme systems the improved performance is there and hell if you can afford it anyway, why not, right ? For the rest of us the 10% to 20% performance increase is not worth the 200% price premium.
