Asus GeForce 8800GT 512MB GDDR3 PCI-Express 2.0, 2xDVI-I/HDCP, 600MHz
Hejsan
I have the same 8800gt card, and have (maybe "had") the same problems unitl yesterday.
I was checking my fan settings to see if my continuos freezes might have been caused by overheating. I noticed that in the driver settings section the Clock of the card was different from the Startup settings. Moreover, the startup settings were downclocked compared to the standard performances of the card. So I decided to make those 2 valures match at:
539 core clock
1347 shader clock
900 memory clock (this is the only value that was left untouched).
From that moment I haven't had ANY problem with War. No freezes, no crash to desktop, no mad rainbow textures. I've had a smooth Lv run while on the previous days I freezed 20 times in 4 hours. I joined a fortress siege with 100+ people and the game was perfect.
I have no idea why the standard values for my Gc were different from the startup settings. Now that they match I'm running War without any problem.
Try Rivatuner and see if the same thing might work for you.
Mvh
