H100 fan control

Dear Corsair,

I would appreciate if you could answer a question regarding the fan control on the Hydro H100. It appears as if the fan sockets on the cooling block are of the 4-pin configuration. Which of the following options is true:

1. The fan control is built in, disregards the control from the CPU_Fan socket on the motherboard, and is only compatible with PWM-controlled fans. 3-pin fans will not be properly controlled.
2. The fan control can control both PWM and 3-pin fans.
3. The fan control is a simple passthrough from the motherboard, so if the motherboard can control 3-pin fans, the block can as well.
4. The built in block can not control 3-pin fans, but if you have the fans connected to the Corsair Link Cooling Kit, you can have fan control based on CPU-temp.

Many thanks!

If you connect the fans to the H100 pump then the fan controller in the pump unit will control the RPM, based on the performance profile you select on the pump (Quiet, Balanced, Performance), and the temperature of the coolant. The profile basically sets the speed range of the fan - 900 - 1300rpm for Quiet, 1300 - 2000rpm for Balanced, and 1600 - 2600rpm for Performance.

3-pin and 4-pin fans should work - both are controlled by PWM, via the fan controller in the pump.

With Corsair Link, you can control the fans pretty much any way you like, based on coolant temp, CPU temp, GPU temp, or any other temp sensor you connect. And you can define custom profiles, set the RPM exactly and so forth.

Iv put 4 Scythe GT 1850rpm fans (3pin), and they Dont work. Im trying to find out why.

3 pin fans are they really pwm? i thought only 4 pin fans were pwm because of the extra control signal for pwm

Good that someone pointed out this for me.

I have this h100 cooler plugged in to my motherboard, and it sounds alot.
So I will soon connect the fans to the h100 unit (pictured above).
