Force GT

Hi, I recently bought a 120GB Force GT. I've updated it to 1.3.3 and the motherboard is set to AHCI. However I'm experiencing alot of problems with the screen and audio freezing. Evertything stops working, and the audio loops the same thing over and over again. After that the screen goes black and after a couple of seconds everything starts working again.

This has happend 5-6 times now and it's only been 2 days so far. What do you recommend me doing? Sending it back and not having access to my computer for is really something I'd like to avoid. I was hoping that all the trashtalk of the Sandforce SSD's was just ignorance. Turns out it isn't

You may have already done so, but I would update the BIOS of your board, and secure erase the SSD. Instructions for doing this are in the SSD section of the Corsair forum if you need them. I would also suggest a clean install after you have done this. Cloning works for some, not for others, so a fresh install is best.

Could you explain if/why there is any significance in doing a secure erase of the drive before re-installing?

It's not strictly a requirement, but it just ensures that you're starting from a "blank slate" - i.e. absolutely no data on the drive - after the update.

I've had this problem once every day after I made the thread. I updated the firmware before I installed anything on it so there couldn't have been anything on it before I updated.

I don't have a spare harddrive to clone the disk with and then send it in, and losing my data isn't an option. I really don't know what I'm supposed to do.
