Down 2x AX1200i power supplys already, both causes horrible buzzing out of the box

1 month ago or so I bought a ax1200i from a vendor here in Sweden, I noticed it had a loud buzzing sound when I first installed it. I hoped it would go away but it dident, so I did RMA it. Today I got a replacement and straight out of the box just testing it with the test button it has the same freaking buzz. It is sound exactly the same as these videos:

This high pitch buzz is extremely annoying and it really dosent sound like Corsair quality at all, the buzz overpowers 7 case fans and the psu fan even at full speed. My previous HX1000 psu never had any problems like this for 5 years. The question is are all AX1200i power supplies this bad or am I just unlucky? Since I have seen quite a few videos on youtube it looks like this is a real problem. What should I do now? Really frustrated tbh

When you activate the test button the inrush current relay circuit is cycled, and this does produce an audible noise. This only happens when the circuit is activated during a self-test. Is your PSU making a noise in normal use, or just when you do this self-test?

I makes exactly the same sound during self-test as with full load in in the cumputer. Although it gets notisble higher pitch when it is loaded, sry for late reply but been on a holiday

Ok sounds great! all though the vendor in Sweden has been able to replace it in advance so I dident have to do without computer for some weeks. Is this deal possbile aswell? I jsut want to replace the psu all cables and suich I want to keep aswell.

I have my problems still, i never did any service due to i rather not be without running system when the spareparts seem to be having same issues.

AquaRelliux, I've asked engineering in the US to test an AX1200i on their Chroma (at 230V input), and the unit I sent them has no noise issues at any load setting (right up to 1200 Watts). I could have them send this to you?

If this still buzzes in your rig, then it may well be down to the load from the combination of components in your PC, which would be interesting to note in itself.

Ok so I have had this unit for quite some time now, It still does buzz but not as much as the others I have had. So recently I have get 2 Titen cards, with the AX1200i PSU both my cards coil whines horribly. My friend has a fractal design 1000watt PSU, I tested that PSU in my rig and voila no more buzz or coil whine from the cards.
Why is there so many problems with the PSU that should be your top of the line product that I have paied alot of money for? When I can buy a Fractal Design PSU for less and have no problems.

After the last replacement PSU Blackbeard sent to you, did you have any problems with it before using the titan cards?

Yes it had a faint buzz noise from the PSU but not as loud as the other two, so I dident care that much since I could not hear it at my seat. But now when I run two Titan cards they whine so loud during load it is very annoying. What could be casing this? I am not going to rule out that it can be something wrong with my computer or maybe the wall socket I use? Which is grounded properly as far as I know at least. Blackbeard told me that there would be another reversion of the AX1200i that might be better, has this one been released?

Thanks for the update AquaRelliux. Yes, there is a later version that has addressed this specific issue, but I still wouldn't rule out the possibility that it could also be a combination of components (SLI Titan), in which in my perspective, should not be an exception at all and should be as quiet as the other PSU. Thus, I'd like to request this PSU to be sent here for further evaluation and see if we can replicate it using the same exact hardware.

I would like you to submit a ticket here and once you have the ticket #, let me know what it is and I can make the arrangement for the replacement and the necessary label so I can get that PSU sent here, rather than going to the default location for RMAs.

Sry but I cannot send my PSU anywhere without having something to replace it with in the meanwhile. I cannot be without and don't want to be without computer while you test a PSU. I rather sell this unit then and buy another and loose some money on it. And as you said "there is a new version that will address this issue" that means you already know there is a problem with these PSUs? My old HX1000 which a friend bought from me is completely silent as well.

We'll send you a replacement first then you can send us the defective unit to avoid down time.

There was a specific batch/lot of the AX1200i that did exhibit this buzzing noise when the system is under heavy load, not all units were affected though, only a few with a certain combination of hardware. These batches were early this year, which got corrected in their later batches up to it current production.

If you submit a ticket regarding this issue, we'll be able to sort it out for you with out down time. All you have to do is let me know the ticket #

My ticket number is 6100942, as usual on your ticket site I was unable to find the correct part number. How hard is it to make a search function that works?.. The correct PSU should be AX1200i and not AX1200 as the ticket says. My PSU is one of the early year models as well I think I got it in mars some time around there.

When did I say that you'll need to send the PSU first before we send you the replacement? The change in your ticket was, instead of processing it as a standard RMA where you have to send it to the Netherlands, it'll be processed as a Failure Analysis RMA instead (not standard). A pre paid label will be provided for you to get this processed.

btw, your replacement has been shipped. Check your ticket for tracking info.

Ok so I received the new PSU today and just testing it with the test self test button, it turns red after a couple of seconds and it switches of. I guess it is broken then? breand new out of the box..

Edit: Yepp it is indeed dead I tested it with my trusty PSU tester and it switches of after around 1 sec and the light turns red.

Do you have any cables connected to the PSU when doing the self test? hold the self test button when performing the test with no cables attached at all.

yes I tested both, my current psu don´t have this problem. The psu tester only requiers you to plug in the 24 pin cable, when I connect it the psu starts with green light for 1 sec and the fan spins up. Then after like 1-2 sec it shuts down and turns red. I havent tested it in the computer but I fear to do so...
