Update 19
Awwwww yissssss. Breadcrumbs.
(Plexiglass window and final pictures)

Hello, and Merry Christmas!

I would like to say thank you to everyone who has supported this build, and the various sponsors who have contributed and helped this project become as how I had imagined it!

In this update I would like to present the plexiglass window with it's LED lighting, along with the final pictures of Henrik's project, The Fractal Effect! This project has taken under just 2 months from the design concept and rendering, to completion. I have had help along away from various people and companies lending their products and services, who also wanted to see this project succeed just as much as I wanted.

These people I would like to personally thank:
Sascha Krohn at Bitfenix.com
Mikael Svensson at MSCB.se
Erik Lantz at Nybergs Glas & Metall
Levik Hartouyinan

I would really like to take some more pictures of The Fractal Effect and will do so once we get back from holidays at the end of January. So even though these are the final photos, there will probably be a couple of more in one months time. But until then, I hope you enjoy these pictures and hopefully have a look at my other projects.

With best regards,
Justin / MetallicAcid.

I have a saying which is "where there is a will, there is a way!". I did this build while juggling afl time job, limited budget from Henrik, part time study (25hours a week) and my 7month old daughter. If you want something so bad, you can make it happen!

Hey everybody!

I have shamelessly entered my TJ08 ROG V rig into another competition at Minimalistic PC's, and hope for your support After you have checked out all the great PC's there, and still think that my work is worthy of your vote, then you will know what to do

Either way, thank you for your support, and see you at the next project!

Update 20 - Forbes.com has declaired Fractal Effect as one of the most incredible PC's of 2014

Hello to everybody!

I am writing this mini text update out of sheer pleasure. The Fractal Effect 304 build was recently been included in an article by Forbes.com as "The 2 most incredible PC's of 2014" by auther Antony Leather.

What can I say but WOW! I never guessed in a million years that any of my mods would earn such a prestige title, let alone the fact that there are thousands of other PC's out there that deserve it more than I do.

All I can say is thank you for the support, and to please have a look at my other projects found in my signature.

Best regards,
Justin "MetallicAcid" Ohlsen

Hey Cappe,

Thanks for checking out the build and commenting I do have a word of advice for you, and that is that you do not need alot of money to be able to mod. Surely the powertools are handy, but not 100% needed. I do almost all mods with hand tools. As for materials, I am fortunate enough to have most of it at work. I can recommend that you find yourself a metal reseller and ask if they have any off cuts which they are willing to sell.. In my case, when I have asked, I got it for free I just made sure that the next time I asked and was told it would be free again (Awesome!) I came with a couple of cinnamon buns as a thank you.

Giving cinnamon buns is magical... It can get you almost anything!

Hope this is motivation enough to get started on something

Best regards,
Justin

Update 9
The PSU shroud. I am so proud! I'm floating on the 9th cloud. I hope you're WOWed! (part 1)

Hello!!!! I am in a funny/excited mood! My tests are over as of 2 hours ago, and I am full of energy!! As of Thursday next week, there is no more school! With this energy (at 2200 ) I would like to show you what I have been working on the last few days. A couple of shots are dodgy phone snaps while I was at work today, and a couple are glamour shots here at home of the PSU WIP.

Firstly I would like to show you the concept for the GPU shroud, and the dodgy WIP shots from work:

http://i1358.photobucket.com/albums/q771/Justin_Ohlsen/Henrik...

http://i1358.photobucket.com/albums/q771/Justin_Ohlsen/Henrik...

http://i1358.photobucket.com/albums/q771/Justin_Ohlsen/Henrik...

http://i1358.photobucket.com/albums/q771/Justin_Ohlsen/Henrik...

And here is one shot of the PSU after I had finished sleeving the 24pin:

http://i1358.photobucket.com/albums/q771/Justin_Ohlsen/Henrik...

I have decided though that the grey sleeve that I received from MSCB was unfortunately not dark enough, so I decided to use instead some Grey Mark II which was left over from an order from MDPC. This grey matches perfectly to the grey paint I have, but I do not have any photos to share of it right now.

Well, I hope you have all enjoyed this latest update! I will be continuing work on the shroud, and hopefully have the design finished, and the whole shroud prepped for some paint by the end of today, and then work on the PSU if we do not have any dinner plans elsewhere. Geewhiz, I feel so productive!

Best regards,
MetallicAcid

Very nice idea with the cover for the PSU, i will steal that :), thanks for one of the best (if noth the best) looking Node 304 out there

Update 10
Look!! Mum look!! I sleeved my USB 3.0 cable!! (and IO panel cables )

Hello, and welcome back once again for another fantastic update in this fun little project I have going on here!

Today I would like to present to you my sleeved IO panel and USB cables, of which I used the SATA sleeving I have received from MSCB.se! The USB 3.0 cable was a bitch to sleeve, as I had to desolder the connections from a PCB strip, then force that female USB header through the SATA sleeving. It was like pushing an elephant into a car. It was like putting a whale into an ice cream container. It was like putting a sailing ship into a bathtub! You should have gotten the picture by now... Then I had to then resolder the USB female headers back in place before screwing the PCB back into place.

"Shut up and show me the pictures already!" you say? OK!

http://i1358.photobucket.com/albums/q771/Justin_Ohlsen/Henrik...

http://i1358.photobucket.com/albums/q771/Justin_Ohlsen/Henrik...

http://i1358.photobucket.com/albums/q771/Justin_Ohlsen/Henrik...

Here is a small text update on the other bits and pieces left to do, and what I am still in the process of doing for this project.
In process of doing:

 • The PSU is now at home, and pictures will be taken tomorrow at some point.

 • The PSU shroud is now ready for its first coat of primer.

 • Bitfenix fans are in the process of being painted.

 • Node 304 "armour" is being repainted.

Things left to do:

 • Paint PSU shroud.

 • Create GPU plexiglass shroud.

 • Installation of all components.

 • Installation of LEDs.

 • Cable management.

 • Final photoshoot.

I hope you guys have enjoyed this update! I do look forward to any and all positive/negative feedback you have for me
Best regards,
MetallicAcid

Nice job, i did not manage to push the usb (the elephant into a car) so i desoldered the while thing.
