X299 with 7800x upgrade to Z490 with i7 10700K or 10900X or AMD?

Hello there,
My current setting is X299 taichi XE with 7800x, 8GBx4 ddr4, 970 evo plus 1TB, gtx1080, U3415w. Firstly, I wish to replace the monitor with Odyssey C32G75. Hopefully I can get it on July 1.
I plan to upgrade my settings for 2K gaming with RTX3000 series in the future for Cyberbunk 2077. I knew the main bottle neck is the GPU, but CPU matters also right?
My budget is around 8000 kr. So I have following options:
1. Upgrade CPU to single 10900X
2. Upgrade to Z490 with 10700K with better core frequencies
3. Upgrade to AMD X570 with Zen 2 or wait for Zen 3. But AMD gaming is not better than Intel's mostly?
4. Wait until black Friday...

Thanks for advice.

I'd argue you don't need to upgrade if you're only gaming. 7800x is basically a 8700k, perhaps marginally slower in gaming due to platform/cache setup etc. What i think the question is, can you overclock your 7800x? The upgrades you've mentioned is basically just extra threads and frequency of which the latter can be solved and the first doesn't matter enough in gaming yet.

Don't be fooled by the names. A 10900X is nothing lika a 10900K/10700K. The 10900X is actually significantly worse than a 10900k in gaming. It's just more expansive for basically nothing.

I would vote for a Ryzen upgrade. Keep your current CPU and wait for Ryzen 4000.

@CaptainYan: are you feeling limited somewhere ? I would argue a GPU upgrade is a better choice if you aren't gaming at 240hz 1080p. Keep watch on the 2nd hand market for a better x299 CPU for future proofing but don't feel the need to upgrade your cpu shouldn't limit you at the moment.

2k gaming is more about GPU and maybe a future 3090 would be nice ?

Right now 10700k is a very good choice for gaming but does it really matter if you play at higher resolutions? If you played shooters at 1080p and low settings and plan to continue doing so however, I'd upgrade immediately.

Just my thoughts

2. Upgrade to Z490 with 10700K with better core frequencies
- or -
3. Wait wait wait for next Ryzen

10700K will probably give the highest FPS. We don't know what next gen Ryzen will bring to the table until we see the real numbers. With that said: I will go the next gen Ryzen because i'll probably be able to use my X470 and swap out my 3900X.

I don't really do overclocking actually.... Bad experience from 5820k, I chose x299 because of PCI-E lanes before.

That is exactly why I wish to upgrade for a CPU. But perhaps wait for Ryzen 4000 and RTX 3000 series firstly.

You are right. In 4K gaming, there is almost no differences. But for 2K, CPU may limit dozens of FPS when GPU is the same? Surely, it depends on titles. I shall wait for now I think. And cyberpunk is delayed again...

Well. X470 may be lack some features for new Zen 3. Let's see. Intel is really... how to say, make people no willing to use anymore...
