Köpa ljudkort, någon idé?
Är det någon idé att köpa ett ljudkort istället för att använda det integrerade på moderkortet?
Är något skeptisk till X-Fi-serien och Creative är precis lika osympatiska som dom brukar vara:
"The X-Fi-series has been criticized for the way it has been marketed. This criticism mostly centered on the optional "Crystalizer" functionality—a DSP function which colored the sound in an attempt to improve perceived quality. Creative claimed that this Crystalizer DSP could generate 24-bit resolution from audio recorded at 16-bit, a claim which is mathematically and logically impossible. In fact, Crystalizer is similar to the many plug-ins for popular audio players and stereo systems which enhance audio through sophisticated analog/digital modeling. Whether or not the effect is beneficial is a qualitative measurement unique to each individual, and depends on the type of audio being played back.

Some of the budget models in the series, most notably the Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio, have been suspected of not actually including the X-Fi chipset, but instead doing all or most of the processing in software like the budget Audigy SE series, while being deliberately mislabeled as an "X-Fi" processor, much like the simple Intel microcontrollers on early Sound Blaster models were mislabeled as "DSP". This suspicion is strengthened by them not using the same drivers as the rest of the X-Fi family, their not being recognized as X-Fi capable hardware by some modern games, and the similarity of the card's profile to the older Audigy SE series, as well as user reports of it slowing down applications and games. [2][3]. The PCI-E version of the card [4], while different in profile and PCB layout than the PCI, makes the difference in processor size compared to true X-Fi cards more evident, as well as clearly lacking any external memory."

Så frågan är väl egentligen: är det värt att punga 800 kr för "Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi XtremeGamer"?
Lee Adama is a bitch!
