8800GT - Vmod| The 3Dmark Beast |
Tja S-klockare!

Thanks for figuring out the volt mods.
I did this voltmod, and almost destroyed my card.
I'm actually surprised it is still working.
I have soldered many times before and have a good soldering iron but the wire i used was too thick and it ripped off couple times, taking the soldering points with it, and those resistors are really small too, but should be better next time around
ok so i turned it up to 1.35v and the stable overclock i got is 864/2106/970
the next step is 879.5 for the core and 2160 for the shaders, both unstable with this voltage
the ram is really bad, only got few mhz out of it, i can bench it @1025 but it's unstable in games
i wonder if it can go any higher with more voltage,
but i want to play couple games before i fry it:

Just want to post an update, 849/2052 is the highest stable clock regardless of voltage, i went up to 1.47v

Hi guys, i made some measurements of temperatures on my 8800Gt, to see how the 80mm fan is useful.
All my measurements was made with my 8800Gt@850/1000 Vgpu: 1.38 (full)
The ambient temperature was 20° Celsius
-For my measurements I use this marvellous tool (very useful for overclocking )
http://img152.imageshack.us/img152/8326/dvc02372hn4.jpg
- A pic of the Papst 80mm fan

- A picture off my measurement points:

http://img443.imageshack.us/img443/1610/tableautemperatureref...
As you can see the point 1 and 3 seems to be the hottest areas on the card, without active cooling, the point 3 reaches 109° after 12 min of ati tool!!!
I can’t imagine how hot it could be after on or two hours of this test…. In my mind the conclusion should be a nice black screen …
The result show that the 80mm fan is very efficient , it keep the card very cool, and the max temp I found with it still was the point 3, but with only 51.1° this time
I really think this card need an active cooling if you decide to put a water block on it. It should help a lot in your overcloking
I hope these measurements will help you in your overcloking quest
The 8800 Gt is really a great card, thanks to NVIDIA.

We thought we would do a quick little overclock of the card before we wrapped things up. With a core speed of 720MHz and 2104MHz DDR on the 512MB of GDDR3 we managed to climb up and over 14,500 in 3DMark06. It will be interesting to see what the likes of BFG and ASUS do with their OC2 and TOP models respectively.
8800GTX stock has pretty much dried up and is overpriced now. The Ultra is just an absolute sick waste of money and the 3870 really has nothing on the new G92 based variant of the 8800GTS. This means that if you’re looking for a top video card this Christmas the 8800GTS 512MB is probably going to be the card you’re looking at.
Enjoy!
