How can you NOT have a watercooled GPU? It's much more important than CPU. GPU gets much hotter and a lot more loud. Aircooled CPU works just fine and are very quiet. So either GPU cooled, or GPU+CPU. CPU only is just amateur style imo

SSD ?? JAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's hard to explain.. the pc just feels 10x more respsonsive, smooth plus your heavy games will load a lot faster. It should really be out of the question today for any decent gamer to NOT get an SSD.
For office pc's and what not? I guess it doesn't matter.

Get a better PSU 80 GOLD preferebly (seasonic X series is highly recommended), and what's with the 7 extra fans? Both the CPU and GPU are running very low temps. I would also replace the 60gb vertex with something little more beefy.. 510 120gb. And when you have 6GB/s onboard ports why not take advantage of them. Although if you wanna keep the price low I reckon the vertex 2 is ~ok
If you wanna run some steam games or the likes, that really take advantage of the SSD speeds, those 60gb will be gone in no time. Also you can get 2TB drive for 150 kroner more instead of 1TB.

I don't even know what equipment Solaris runs on. But it's probably a combination of a regular desktop/laptop PC and windows/Linux ... since it really is not ALL vertex3 that has issues it's hard to say what the real problem is. It's been present for a month and a half, and OCZ still haven't fixed it.

It can be v3 firmware interacting badly with certain setups of controllers/drivers, it can be badly manufactored batches of drives, perhaps V3 drives are more sensitive than other SSD drives in terms of how you install/setup your PC, ie. not ready for mainstream use. Take your pick.

Precis uppdaterat till 2.08 från 2.02.

Enkelt.

1. Pared Magic (Linux) skiva som läses in till RAM minnet.
2. Aktivera trådlös internet
3. Klickar i den förinstallerade OCZ firmware update programmet
4. Drar ut sata sladden (10 sekunder) till min SSD Vertex 3 240 GB. (så att den låses upp från moderkortet)
5. Klickar på update. Klart!

Med 2.02 så kunde datorn frysa, men det har inte hänt (än) men 2.08

Don't feel so safe... It could take up to 2-3 days for me after a clean reinstall and firmware upgrade before I saw the BSOD's start coming. A few hours "stability" means nothing in this case. But give it a week - then I would feel more on the safe side.

premium price!

Sry for english, i'm danish, my swedish vocabulary isn't as extravagant as the queens english. I live in Sweden though and read it fluently

Whole point of paying premium price for SSD is that you are early on the market for the fast product.
It's been over a MONTH since problems began with the 2.06 firmware and there still has been no resolve... no sign from OCZ/SandForce that they have a clue what the issue is. And end users are being driven to the brink of insanity having to follow their Boeing 747 checklists just to install an SSD... and then it STILL doesn't work.

They are being told to reinstall over and over and over with various checklists or... well leave it on the table until a solution has been found. So what are we paying for???

A big part of the price on an SSD is having it NOW... in a month or 2 prices will drop, customers affected should at least be compensated in one way or another. Either partly refunded or replace for a better model or something.

Corsair made a quick recall and I guess with full option for refund. OCZ took a big gamble by refusing any part in this deboggle saying they don't use reference design, so it can't possibly be their fault, it must be end users setup, Microsoft/Intel drivers, SATA2 cables or whatever else they can point fingers at.

I bought one from Inet.se and updated firmware on advice from OCZ forums. Immediately saw problems and spend 2 weeks trying to fix it - finally I demanded a refund on OCZ forum and they told me to contact the retailer first. I contacted inet.se and they immediately acknowledged the issues with OCZ V3 and agreed to full refund. (big ups to inet.se).

And even if inet.se refused to refund OCZ said they would do it - but only after much whine on their forum.
It's interesting to keep following the development of this ever-growing elephant in the room for OCZ who keeps claiming "it's <1% affected" - that has to be a load of horse****.

PS: I initially wanted to upgrade from my X25-M 80GB but after I got refund from the V3 I decided just to get another Intel drive. At least that thing is stable and still fast.
