I got a gaming 5 z97. Everything is awesome other than one thing. One of the stocks fan in h440 is connected in the cpu2. And i cant control the rpm on it. I had tried both in the bios and MSI commander and it still do 100%. All other fans and the cpu fan works great and can be controlled as normal. It was a demo product if u need to know.
(sry for bad English)
//Foxmaner
@Ruudt

The CPU Fan connectors are PWM controlled (4 pin fan connector needed). Most CPU coolers have 4 in fan connectors.
Do the stock fans of H440 have a 4pin fan connector?

3pins fan fanspeed can only be controlled on SysFAN1/2/3 (controlled by voltage).
Page 1-21 of the manual
http://download.msi.com/archive/mnu_exe/E7917v1.0.zip
CpuFAN1/2 cannot be controlled by voltage

(BTW 4 pins fans can be controlled by PWM or Voltage, 3 pins fans only by voltage).

Hi I have an MSI Z77A-GD65 Gaming motherboard and when i boot there is a bunch on boot codes but code C6 shows up and stays there for a while. I just installed new RAM and my Corsair H80I with the USB cable to get the Corsair LINK software to work so but i dont know if that has anything to do with the C6 code showing for 15-20 sec. Is there anything i can disable in the BIOS or something to fix my boot time?

POST code C6 I don't know. Could it be "9C", that you've read it upside-down. "9C" indicates USB detection.
DOes it boot normally when you unplug the Corsair Link USB cable? If that's the case it could be a bios compatibility issue. The bios is probably trying to detect if the USB device can be booted or not.

You could try the latest bios version v10.11 (AB0) if you haven't done so already:
http://www.msi.com/support/mb/Z77AGD65.html#down-bios

The easiest way to update the bios is using M-Flash like explained here:

Hi i just tried booting with and without the Corsair Link usb cable and without it it works fine. I checked it again and it does show C6 as a bootcode heres a photo of it http://imgur.com/hO41QIw. Then when i boot into windows 7 i get the USB Device not recognized message so it has to be some sort of problem with the USB Corsair Link cable. For now I just remove the USB from my H80i because i dont really use the software. Thank you Ruudt for taking time to respond, now maybe other people that have the C6 bootcode "error" can find what the cause could be and also now you know what the C6 boot code means :).

The Wifi module has a very small connector which sits on a small pinheader on the motherboard.
The Wifi module is normally held in place by a screw.
However sometimes the metal casing (especially the underside) is a bit bent which causes the connector not to make the best contact with the pinheader.

If this is the case try to bend the metal bottom part of the Wifi module straight.

If this doesn't improve the situation, you should contact the computer assembler or contact the shop where you bought the motherboard for service.

Hello MSI,
First and foremost I want to thank you for making awesome products and having a presence here on the board! I just became a proud owner of a X99S XPOWER AC (upgrading from my X99S SLI + to do some serious overclocking). The retailer (NetonNet) I ordered this from sent the Motherboard in such a poor packaging (see pictures below) that I have doubts the motherboard will even work. After contacting the retailer and asking them about it, they said that the motherboard should handle this type of packaging, something I strongly disagree with. I just wanted to ask if this is, in your opinion as the manufacturer, acceptable packaging?

Packing and damages caused during transport is the responsibility of the sender. If anything got damaged plese contact the shop that shipped it to you.

I only see one picture and the box doesn't seem to be damaged, so I wouldn't worry about that. The colorbox should give it adequate protection but it is hard to judge from a picture.
It would be wise to use filling material, so the colorbox doesn't move around in the bigger brown box.

There's usually foam protecting the motherboard inside the motherboard packaging.

Hello!

Im thinking about buying an MSI A88X-G45 Gaming motherboard.
http://www.msi.com/product/mb/A88X-G45-GAMING-Assassins-Creed...

I want to use this with an AMD Athlon x4 860k. Is there a revision of this motherboard that supports this cpu out of the box or do I need to get a 760k first to update bios?

Thanks in advance!

The MSI FM2+ motherboards are able to boot with Kaveri CPUs (like X4 860K) from the first bios version and you can update the bios to the latest one.

For best performance with Kaveri on A88X-G45 GAMING at least bios v1.2 is required but I recommend to use the latest available (v1.6 atm)

Hi.

I have a question regarding the Z170 M5 board. eu.msi.com states in Specs that it has Displayport and HDMI but General info says it has HDMI/DVI. Also some images in M5 description are the M7 board (that is supposed to have Displayport).
What is the correct info regarding the M5 board?

Runs smoothly.. and I really want to upgrade to a Skylake system but I need to know if your planning to release a new board for it?

Hi!

When is Live Update 7 available for download because I cant wait to get rid of LU6. Sorry for that just had to get it out of my system.

So many errors all the time. Tried to reinstall it several times. Works one out of ten times when Ive rebooted the system. And Itll only work only for a while. The other nine times it simply freezes and does nothing, tried to wait it out but after 15 minutes I gave up. Is there something else I could try before I Uninstall LU6? I dont look forward to manually looking for updates for everything.

The fan settings are not being saved properly by the MSI Command Center and I have to manually open the program and apply the settings every time I boot. I am using W10 Pro x64. Is there any way around this? I can't seem to find any proper settings menu. Also, are there any plans on allowing fan speeds below 50% for case fans? 50% is way higher than I'd like.

Hello Ruudt.

Thank you for your response. Now for another issue:
It seems like the Z170 chipset doesn't work well with SLI. I don't know if it's BIOS, vBIOS, chipset driver or VGA driver related.
I've combed the Internet regarding this and found several people with the same problem, one with an MSI board and two more with ASUS boards.

Here are links to this problem:

I've created a ticket at MSI support (and also forum but that was a dead end (https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=259785.0) but they said they've never heard of this issue before but could take a look at this. Contact me on PM if you want the case reference number.

Thank you!

PS. I don't think there is something wrong with the motherboard itself.

Theoretically and officially the X4-860K can support up to DDR3-2133 but this doesn't always work. Especially when you use 4 high capacity memory modules.

High speed memories (>=1866MHz) may not always work with 4 dimms. Some modules you might have to clock down to DDR3-1600 to get it running properly with 4 high capacity dimms. Also you might have to raise the memory voltage a bit (~1.65V) to get it stable with 4 dimms.

A list of tested memory is available here:

Do you use the latest version of LiveUpdate6? V6.0.025
What kind of errors do you get with LiveUpdate6?
Lately I am using it myself on most test setups (mostly win8.1x64)and recently I haven't seen many issues (other than the occasional new hardware not being recognized).
Windows 10 support is still not perfect because a lot of drivers still need to be added to the LiveUpdate servers.
For Win7 make sure you have .NET4 runtime installed.

If it freezes can you also check the Windows Event logs (Eventvwr).
Make sure LiveUpdate isn't blocked by a firewall (this can make it look like LiveUpdate 6 has frozen but it is probably trying to connect).

P.S.,
Once all drivers are installed you don't really need to update anything regularly, only the graphics driver might need updates if you try new games.

I agree that your graphics (SLI) performance numbers seem abnormal (comparing Z170 vs Z77).
The fact that you have overclocked both the CPU and the GPUs makes it hard to find what is causing it.

Command Center isn't designed to make it run every time windows starts.
It was designed so you could test some settings on-the-fly in windows and if you want to make them stick, you set it up in the bios.

On Z97S SLI Krait Edition the two CPU Fan connectors are controlled by PWM signal (=pin4).
The SysFan connectors are controlled by voltage (=pin2).

As as safety limit our bios has a minimum setting of 50% (around 6Vdc) since it seems that many fans don't spin below 6V or become unreliable.

If your sysfans are still too noisy around 6V you should change them to lower noise fans or use so-called Fan-resistors like these:
http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=comput...
(dropping the voltage with these fan-resistors may also make the fans unreliable at some settings, so you have to do proper experiments to know what settings work)
