Stora problem med mitt nya bygge i9-13900K

The voltage was left at "auto", the HWmonitor showed anywhere from 1.3 to 1.4xx volts.

Improving stabilty by overvolting would certainly come as surprise to me.

The one other thing that I did is pull out the GPU and switched to iGPU, so I leave it with even more overhead power from PSU just in case, but it still went to BSOD minutes after boot.

Just return it, not worth the hassle.

Just return it but could be LCC issues going from load to nothing

Happy to report that today I got replacement CPU and all the problems went away.

The unlucky batch number was #0000003623391 so watch out for this trouble maker

The total idle system power draw from the outlet (smart plug reading) is now ~75W which is a jump around 15W from the i5-13500.
Idle temperatures are 30C with air cooled Noctua NH-U12A, and 5 additional NH14 fans around the case.

Comparing to i5, transcoding the same 3hour 2160p video file in Handbrake (4k to 4k) using H.265 QSV 2160p Preset, went down from 1 hour to 40 minutes. During the transcode, interestingly, both i5 and i9 consume around the same amount of power (150W).

Thanks everyone who responded, and feel free to ask if you got any additional questions.
Trevlig helg

Hey, did you by any chance bought your cpu from @inet ?
I got one 13900k from their "fyndvaror", and now I'm having the exact same problems as you. It has a sticker "serviceorder 2023-04-14" which approximatey corresponds to date you got yours returned.

It booted fine, and after just a couple of minutes it went into BSOD with CLOCK_WATCH_TIMEOUT response.

It's completely random. Sometimes it crashes at login, and sometimes completes Cinebench no problem and then crashes after a minute of idling.

Temperatures were completely ok, never going over 80C.
I also tried limiting P1 & P2 to 150W, but it changed nothing.

I changed two power suplies (Seasonic Prime TX-750W & TX-850W platinum), i switched ram .. Kingston / Crucial.

What we have in comon is SSD drive (WD850x Nvme) and a chipset (Gigabyte Z790).

Tomorrow I'm also going to return it.

It would be really interesting to find out that they just returned faulty CPU into the market, without giving it a proper troubleshoot.

Hi there. No sorry i did not buy it from inet. its another company. but if you having the same problems like me i really hope intel stops sending out corrupted cpu:s to the marked that is not ok specially when it so fu**ing expensive. good luck with yours and i hope you get the refund without any problems. i heard that inet is a good company so you should get your money back without any problems

Kolla så minnena sitter i rätt slots.
Åtminstone Asus ska de sitta i 2 och 4...inte 1 och 3...för att köra XMP.
