PAPER BOX case

Hi, I am Dong-Han in konstfack!
I am glad to show my work to you.
This design is still in the process...
so, I desperately need your precious feedback.
Here is the explanation of my concept.
Thanks for your time and comments in advance!

'paper box'
This ATX case has minimalistic design based on paper box concept.
Nowadays most of computer case tend to be looked expressive
to hide their box shape.
In this concept, 'paper box' reveals box shape itself in a minimalistic way.
It has more strong expression compare to generic feeling cases
on the market.
In addition, all connections and port are placed on the top of the box,
so users can easily connect their devices, wires, cables, etc.
The top part of the box is made from flexible plastics
so you can fold up and down when you want to connect or hide connections using your finger.

I really like the fact that you're trying to bring forth the simplicity and the essence of what a computer chassis is supposed to be. Beautiful, straight forward and a refusal of unnessecary accessories that often are involved with these cases. You're on to something! And the fact that you, unlike all the other cases I've seen here, actually know how a computer chassis works and what's needed for it to work gets you an extra point!

That being said, I don't think many people will want to opt for a paper box-version of you chassis. You'd likely have better success with a metal-version.

Thanks for a comment-sthlmskille82,
About the material for my concept, of course,
I will use metal sheet laminated with paper.
Then it has just the same stability with others but still has paper feeling.
In fact, I agree with your opinion 'metal version' which can be more
suitable for computer 'machine' but paper is more friendly and warm
like your friend.
moreover, you can write some memo on your friend's body!

Maybe need more air supply than just the side or do you have a fan exhaust in the back too?

BTW like the cable solution, really nice. keep up the good work!

This might be one of the best ideas ever, atleast on paper. (no pun intended)

It looks kind of "swedish" and will match my ikea boxes, and I mean that in a totally good way. I guess less really is more...

Thanks for comments- sinned89 and Rose Brass

About the air supply for cooling, I forgot to make exhaust part for Power Supply fan in bottom of the back side. You are right sinned89!
I have to make it because power makes a lot of heat as you know.
Basically the bottom of the case, there is small gap for sucking cold air, also Big fan can be equipped on side panel then the air will come out back side and top part, since top part is actually opened.

I started my design from the circomstance that computer cases don't fit the interior or atmosphere of our house at all. They look like something just arrived from the future or other planet. So I am happy to hear that it can match your IKEA box, Rose Brass!

Intresting. I like the paper idea. This way you'd only need some crayons if you want to 'mod' the case, clever!

I was about to comment that you dont have any quick access to usb, firewire or headphone ports, but with the motherboard angled the way you have the ports on the back of it are easily accessible.

It probably lacks enough fans for some, but I think its ok. A case doesnt have to fir the needs for everyone.

Thanks for comments- Linqon

The motherboard is angled kind of horizontal direction, so
all in put and out put is placed on the top.
That means all USB ports, IEEE 1394, HDMI, eSata...etc are placed on the top as well.
All cables will be connected only on the top of the case. only.
That is my intention..

I like the concept. I dont know what group of people you intend it for, but i dont think that it will fit highend graphics cards because they are too long.

The graphicscards go into the green slots and as highend cards are up to 30 cm long i'm afraid the powersupply is in the way.

Thanks to barf for your comment.
You finally find it..!
I have noticed that problem but tell the truth, I wanted to hide the problem. As I said, this concept is in the process still, so I will have to organize more about inside based on your comment. In the very beginning I focused on the proportion of the case the first. because of that I didn't have enough place to put the power supply.
I will arrange the size and proportion of my chassi to make spacious inside for the VGA like 8800GT.
It was really productive comment Barf!

Here is another picture of this concept.
You might see the part where to connect cables and to hide sockets and plugs.

Thanks
