Should've done that already

The reason why the site isn't filled up with several articles & reviews is because we are a new site.
We are currently working on a lot hardware reviews ( twintech 8800GTX, 5 way DDR2 roundup, 3 asus core 2 duo motherboards, and more ).
If you got any questions regarding the previously mentioned article, feel free to ask here or PM me.

regards,

Just a thought; perhaps you should have held of the critical article against Asus untill you've built a name for yourselves and added some more content. Many readers might assume that the site is out to slag of Asus when it's really a serious hardware site, simply because it's the only content on the site. Anyways, some good critical articles aren't too easy to come by so keep up the good work although most people I know who own or have owned Asus mobos are very pleased with the experience... guess you wont be receiving any free hardware from Asus any time soon.

Yes, you are partially right mate.
People might say "oh, they're just bashing Asus, because they hate them or etc..."
But... we will be publishing Tech Support Evaluations for a lot companies, and with enough proof provided everytime.
Integrity comes after some time, only time can tell

Everybody will be able to read our reviews & articles, and will be able to judge us

Citat:

Well, perhaps there are some good times over Asus' Tech Support department.
But from what me & my crew experienced during these 2 1/2 months evaluation I tend to disagree.
We also found a lot Asus users on various forums expressing their terrible experience with ASUSTeK's Tech Support [ bad replies, ignorance, etc ]

Citat:

Honestly, we don't care if Asus decide to "blacklist" us.
We can buy their products, review them & sell 'em.
There are even more ways on getting our hands on their hardware.

Also deciding to "blacklist" us, could be 'catastrophic'.We can disclose such information like we just did with their Tech Support Evaluation.
How would the community react when seeing Asus blacklisting a site for judging their products honestly ?

Permalänk

I love that you don’t fear being blacklisted because a lot of hardware sites seem less then impartial when it comes to judging donated products which doesn't help any customers or community but only helps flogg a poor (or at least not as great as it seems) product. I'll be keeping an eye out for your reviews. BTW, since the Asus P5W DH Deluxe definitely doesn't seem to impress you, what mobo would you recommend in the same price range and with similar specs?

In the same price range there's the Asus P5N32E-SLI [ nVIDIA nFORCE 680i SLI Chipset ] { which I would recommend, but since I haven't tried that one, I don't know if there are any major BIOS issues like the CPU Voltage to FSB Strapping like on the Striker Extreme }, the MSI 975X PowerUp Edition ( sigh ) and the Intel BadAxe 2 [ good one ].
So, I'd go with the P5N32E-SLI or the Intel BadAxe 2

What about the Asus P5W64-WS PRO?
I´m aware of the unusuality of a "WS" motherboard that performs well,
but it´s said here´n´there that this one does...?

Mvh

Permalänk

The P5W64 WS Pro, is on the same price-range with Striker Extreme.
The P5W64 WS Pro is once again quite the same like the P5WDG2 and P5W DH Deluxe.
Benefits compared to P5W DH Deluxe include:
a) Better CPU Voltage supply [ overvolts by 0.05V up to 1.6V selection, Vdroop of 0.03V ]
b) Better BIOS ( again ) and more options ( allowing for higher average FSB speeds & RAM clocks )

But IMHO its over-priced ( like the Striker Extreme as well ).

Can't wait to get a solid motherboard like what we had in the Athlon 64/Opteron days with the DFI LP nF4 SLI-DR...
That's all I'd like to have...a DFI LP nF4 SLI-DR alternative for the Core 2 Series processors... [ seems like a never-ending dream ]

The Asus P5N32-E SLI board costs just as much as the P5W DH Deluxe and you get all the extra memory timing settings you could possibly want and SLI-capability. According to this test the mobo overclocks very well but they also experienced some odd performance drops when performing certain tasks. It's hard to tell how relevant those performance issues are though and also they didn't perform any Vdrop or Vdroop tests so there is no telling how it compares to the P5W DH Deluxe in that respect. I just might get myself an Asus P5N32-E SLI board instead of the P5W DH Deluxe simply because of all the extra features you get with the P5N32-E SLI.

Generally the only thing preventing me from recommending the P5N32E-SLI is the Vcore to FSB Strapping.
If it's there ( like on Striker Extreme ) then it's a dud, else the board would be way better than the P5W DH Deluxe.

I'll look into it ( for Vcore Strapping on P5N32E-SLI ) and will post as soon as I have more info.

Edit:
The P5N32E-SLI does not suffer from Vcore to FSB Strapping.
But, the default max Vcore voltage is 1.60V ( in BIOS ), real voltage supplied is 1.432V

Looks like a good board, but if you like overclocking you definately need to mod the Vcore & Vcore droop

Ok, I had a change of mind again....
I think that I'll settle for a cheaper Asus-board tbh. I'm not aming at overclocking as much as possible but to get a nice performance boost out of an E6600 so I'll settle for a board that can take the E6600 to 3.4 GHz or so with the help of a kit of Corsair TWIN2X 6400 DDR2, 2048MB CL5. I'm thinking of getting a Asus P5B-E PLUS, P965, Socket-775, what do you think of that setup? I've seen a few guys here on Swec who use that board and they've reached 3.4 on air cooling easily, or so it seems. No point paying through ones nose for over capacity tbh.

With that board you'll be able to reach FSBs over 450MHz.
So it will be more than fine for your E6600 & your overclocking aims ( 3.4GHz or so ) [ actually you can max your CPU on that board anytime ].

Well then that's settled, I'll spend some extra money on the GFX-card instead. Still eagerly awaiting R600-bench results so I know if it's worth waiting till late March to upgrade or not. You've been a star mate, thank you very much for your help!
