Our initial plan was to ship the Raise in the second half of October. However, we've faced some unexpected difficulties in production, and your order will be fulfilled between the 4th and the 18th of November.
The main cause for the delay has been related to the chip crisis.
We had all our chips locked in and paid for since we started production. But then, one of our suppliers notified us that they couldn’t deliver the Keyscanner Microcontrollers. It now cost eight times more 💸
That’s a key component –the chip reads your key presses and sends them to the Neuron– which meant we had to find another chip and adapt our firmware to work with it.
Fortunately, our senior developer is an ace, and everything was solved. But it took him almost a month, leaving us without any margin for error.
And an "error" occurred 😢
Analyzing the samples sent by the factory, we realized that they had changed a small component on the PCB of the Neuron to a no-name version 🔬
They insisted it had identical specs, but we did not want to risk it, so we asked that those PCBs be rebuilt, taking another two weeks.
On top of that, China’s zero covid strategy has affected our factory, disrupting the assembly several times, adding to our despair 🙃
To make up for that delay, we're going to ship the keyboards by air freight from China to our fulfillment facility in Spain, but even with that, we're still a couple of weeks behind 🛫
