Hey MSI! I've had my GTX 980 GAMING 4G for almost a month now and IT IS UNBELIEVABLE!!
After i placed the order i considered getting a waterblock for it as i did ran my previous 770's under water but with this cooler u created i really dont need a waterblock.
Its absolutely silent idle and barely hearable under load.. Max 82 degreees with +37MV ?!?!?
1500/8000 Clock........... DAMN
Thank you for this amazing product!!!

Hi MSI,
I am using MSI GTX 770 Lightning and Gaming as SLI, is there any settings that is necessarily to change when using SLI to improve performance even more?
Like if Clock Speeds are used of the Gaming model as stock on both when in SLI?

SLI works best if you have two cards that are close to equal.
If you have one card that is clocked slower than this card will determine the total speed.
If you want to have an optimal performance, you can clock the cards as high as the slowest card allows (please be aware that this is considered overclocking so it's for your own risk and up to you to find out what is possible).

Hi,
I have a question regarding the MSI 980 ti Gaming which I just purchased.
I'm very happy with the card and its performance.
But my card gets up to 80 degrees when gaming (everything on default settings and no OC).
And the fan speed was also high, dont remember exactly but I think it was over 80%.
Is this normal because in most reviews it says that the card will be around 73 degrees in load but with not that high fan speed?
I know that the ventilation of the case can have an effect but I just wanted to be sure that this is normal values.
In my case, I have a 200mm intake in front, a 200mm exhaust at the top and the water cooling for the CPU is a 120mm intake at the back of the case.
Thank you.

EDIT:
* Important * I just noticed that the Core Clock is 913 Mhz in Afterburner which seems odd to me. Shouldn't it be 1178 Mhz?
Did I get a deffect card?

Something is definitely wrong then. GPU core clock should be between 1228 and 1342MHz in game (= boost clock). Above 83°C the boost clock is dropped to default speed which is 1140MHz. If it goes any lower in 3D operation something is definitely wrong.
80 degrees is possible and not abnormal at long and high gaming loads and fan setting at 80% fan speed (~1800RPM) is also normal.

Can you try with the case open and see if that improves the GPU clocks and temperatures?
If that improves the situation, the ventilation in your case ins't optimal.

Thank you Ruuudt for your answer,

Yesterday i re-installed everything from scratch (Nvidia drivers and programs and MSI programs).

I then used the MSI Gaming App and selected the OC mode (everything else on default).
Now I see that the clock is down to 135 on idle and goes up to 1404 or something like that in load .
In GPU_Z, it shows that the core clock is 1178 and it also changes if I change to other modes in the Gamin App.

The temps were also a bit better, I think it topped at 77°C with around 75-80% fanspeed, I'm not sure about the exact numbers and will check that some more tonight.

So do you think that it looks ok now with the core clock and temps?

Yes, that sounds good to me.
OC mode will set GPU clock at 1178 and memory at 7096 MHz (Gaming mode GPU 1140 , mem = 7010MHz).

You want a comparison with another card of the same type? It won't be accurately comparable since we got different cases, different ambient temps and case fan speeds but still? Name a couple of games that I should test and I'll come back with results.

Thank you Mocka,

Yesterday, I ran Diablo3 for some hours and then BF4 for about 1 hour.
My highest temp was 76°C with the fan speed of around 70%.
in Diablo3 alone the temp was topped at 72°C with around 60-65% fan speed.
Core Clock topped at 1404.

Would be nice to see what you get with your card.

Yep, 2D clock (=idle) is 135MHz for most recent Nvidia cards.

Hi there MSI.
I have a problem with my R9 290 gaming from you.
I can play a game for about 30-40 mins (gta v in this case) before the gpu trottles beacuse of heat.
The computer is cleaned 1/month = no dust. I have good ventilation. (carbide 540 air with all fans installed)
This problem started yesturday.
Tryed different drivers, set manual fan. no differance in temps when i have the fans at 100%.
Picture of temps.

Gpu clocks down to 737mhz when i hit 94C, sometimes it drops down to 500mhz.

Do you recommend sending it on for repair? Bought 2014-01-28 so i do have warranty on it.

Yes, if your cooling inside your PC is OK, then I think the vga card has a defect (probably cooling isn't optimal anymore) and you should return it to the shop for service.

94C and throttling is too high for a R 290 GAMING 4G.

Hi, I posted this question earlier to other members asking if something was wrong with my new MSI Radeon R9 380 GAMING 4GB Twin Frozer V (my old graphics card broke) but it was suggested that I ask here directly to you as well if there's a problem.

So I bought this card from a normal retail store, https://www.alina.se a few weeks ago but just installed it this week since I've been at the hospital and just got back home. And I tried to install MSI Gaming App where you can select different modes for your card (OC, Gaming, and Silent). At first it didn't work because for some reason, even though I downloaded it directly from your site, I got an older version, 5.0.0.16. But another link was provided where a newer version was available, 5.0.0.25, which worked. But before that I did some research.

According to gpu-z my gpu bios version is: 015.049.000.004.000000 and according to Techpowerup BIOS version which is the version for the manufacturer Gigabyte but the official version from you (according to this site) is 015.048.000.062.005580. Here's a screenshot from gpu-z:

And according to your forum ( https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=179659.0 ), where another person had a similar issue although with another card, a Global Moderator stated that "The shop could always claim you crossflashed it and voided warranty."

I have used the MSI Live update 6 to check if there is a newer bios version available but the scan says I have the most recent version

But in that program the bios version is totally different from the one in gpu-z as you can see. Here my bios version is TV314MH.2A0.

Should I be worried that my warranty might not be valid as stated on your forums?

The "015.049.000.004.000000" version liste by GPU-Z is the AMD bios version.
MSI (also others like Gigabyte) use this as the basis for their own vbios.
MSI's vbios version are shown as TvvvvMH.xxx for AMD and NvvvvMH.xxx for Nvidia.
Like the one listed at Techpowerup with that particular AMD version:
https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/174717/msi-r9380-4096-150...
shows is an TV314MH.223

To determine which vbios file is suitable for your card you need to know it's serial number (or at least the first part).
You shouldn't just flash a vbios because it looks newer.

If Liveupdate shows that your vbios is TV314MH.2A0 it means you card's serial number starts with 602-V314-02S or 602-V314-150.
(TV314MH.223 is for 602-V314- 11s/070/18s/130 SKUs)
(both have AMD version 015.049.000.004.000000)

For the 602-V314-02S /150 are no newer vbioses available than TV314MH.2A0.

Are you still having problems running the card or Gaming App v5.0.0.25?

Hi MSI!

I'm using a MSI 970 Gaming 4G and it's awesome. Though, yesterday I saw that the fans are spining when I'm only web-browsing and other less heavy work that is almost not using the GPU at all.
One of the reasons too why I bought this card was that it had "semi-passive cooling", and from what I read back then (a bit more than a year ago) and what I can find now, this "semi-passive cooling" means that the fans starts spinning when the card gets a certain load (I think it was around 50%).

So I'm just wondering: is it something wrong with the card? Or have I misunderstood the whole "semi-passive cooling"-thing? Does it react to temperature rather than GPU-load?

PS: I have all the latest drivers and all that so no need to ask me for such things.

It responds to GPU temperature not GPU load.
If the GPU temperature reaches 60°C it wills tart spinning. And once it started it will stop spinning at around 55°C.

You can check the GPU temperature whit MSI afterburner or GPU-z.

For service you need to go to the reseller.
I don't know if they will accept a broken fan blade to be a warranty service case.

If not you can buy a third party dual fan kit at ebay or aliexpress (suppliers are not affiliated with MSI, so we cannot guarantee quality or accuracy).
You have to search for a dual fan kit with 6pin connector (all six wires connected for GTX980 GAMING 4G) fans are the type PLD10010S12HH.

My computer can´t find my graphics card anymore

So earlier this week when i booted my pc my monitor didnt get any signal from the graphics card, tried to change to another dvi-output on my graphics card, msi 960 twinfrozr. None of the 2 dvi connectors seemed to work so I tried the dvi-connector on my motherboard, and it worked. Nothing wrong with the monitor or cable then. In windows device manager my gpu cant be seen, and when trying to download new drivers through geforce experience it says "no graphics card installed". Tried changing cables from my power supply to the gpu, didnt work.

I guess my graphics card died, but since I dont remember where i bought it and cant fint the receipt its hard to do a rma through them. Is it even possible to do a rma without a receipt? I have the graphics card and all the boxes it came in.

I can add that the fans start spinning when im booting my pc, the only problem is that my computer cant find the card and no signal from the dvi-connectors

You could try the card in another PC but I think it has died.
MSI doesn't offer direct Repair/RMA for computer components (Motherboard and Gfx Card), we only have direct Repair/RMA for full systems (Notebooks, AIO, Desktops).
So you will have to go to the shop you bought it from.

As far as I can see in our serial number database this card was probably sold by an Inet shop (not 100% sure).

Hi, about one year ago i had a msi 970 gaming that i put a waterblock on. One month after cooler swap the vram failed. I don't know if it was improper installation or just unlucky.

As the card diden't get any scratches during the assembly, or any visible damage after vram issue. Does the card still have warranty? on msi homepage it states it might be possible, the reseller diden't give any.

I dont have that card anymore, diden't think i could get it fixed without cashing out. But intrested how your warranty policy really are in these cases. Thx

MSI's RMA policy is: when the sticker has been broken our RMA department will take an extra careful look if the the card has not been damaged. If it has not been damaged ti will be accepted for warranty service.

Since all graphics cards need to be sent to the shop for warranty service, I cannot guarantee that all shops are aware of this information and that they will accept the cards with broken stickers (but you can point them to this Forum post if they give you a hard time).

@Ruudt: Hi again, I´ve found the receipt and the card was bough over 2 years ago, netonnet.se (the reseller), has 1 year warranty on computer components, do you guys offer a longer warranty (3 years) or am I screwed?

No I am afraid you are out of luck, if Netonnet cannot help you (warranty service for graphics cards is handled by the shops).
Unfortunately we don't have direct-service for graphics cards (only for full system, like notebook, AIO and desktop systems).

970

Hi, I'd like to know here I can, or if I can, fix the fan of my gtx 970 twin frozr V.

I have one of the early versions(2014-09-25), the one where only one of the fans work, and where it remains at full load regardless of wether you stop the application that required the graphics card or not.

I did send my card to the reseller for testing, but they were unable to reproduce the issue. I did inform them of the situation, that this is a known issue; but they declined me both the option for a new card and the reparation of the sent in one.

Bluntly, I've been too lazy to push the matter any further, mostly since I've used the computer in a setting where sound hasn't been an issue. Now, however, I've begun playing more demanding games and it has started to overheat frequently. I'm now reluctant to rely on it for any heavy duty games, since it drops a good 20 fps (50 to 30 for example) after a mere half hour of gaming due to overheating.

Morover, I'd like to know if a new fan would even fix this issue; or if the issue itself resides in the bios/hardware of the graphics card?
If it's fixable, is there any place to purchase a replacement fan?

And in addition, I'd really like you to inform resellers of known issues, and not have your customers fight the battle to have their rights met. I know I should've contacted you in this matter, but I had already been without a graphics card for weeks during their testing before they sent it back and charged me for the testing. I was simply dissapointed and couldn't be bothered to start the procedure anew.
Now that I've grown sickened by the sound of the card, I've found new energy to seek to have it fixed.

Regards.
