I wonder if the new RV05 prototype will ever be turned into an FT case.. If so, it sort of matches your requirements I'd think?
http://www.techpowerup.com/192103/silverstone-raven-rv05-prot...

(Personally I'd think removing all 3.5" slots would be suicide in an ATX build, but what do I know)

I certainly would hope not. The RV05 prototype looks just as bad as all previous, except RV02, RV-chassis, aswell as bad as all the Fortress chassis since FT02.

Of course removing or not remoiving the 3.5" slots is a matter of taste. I myself would not need them since im using my NAS or other external storage.

My main case is the TJ08-e for now. But i would like to replace the fan in the front for a better one. Good 180mm fans are hard to come by, are there any plans to make a 180mm Air-Penetrator with PWM? Most modern motherboards don't allow fan control of 3-pin anymore for some reason. So it kind of gets a bit loud, when in idle.

Was thinking of replacing my TJ08-e with the PS07, just because i can get 2 120mm PWM fans instead of a 180mm, with no way of automatically controlling the fan speed.

Can you comment on the rumours that there's a bigger SFX PSU in the making?
(I've seen rumors about a 550 or similar on hardforum for example)

Thank you for your patience. We plan to produce SilverStone SFX PSU 550W in February. Available in Europe could be end of March 2014.
Parallel we work on SFX PSU 600W, however performace is not satisfying yet. Currently cannot tell much about this process.

Hello,
I apologize for the incorrect information given on the specification and availability of the upcoming higher wattage SFX PSU. There are no 550W planned since 600W became possible. However we currently do not have a scheduled release date of this 600w PSU yet.
I'll keep you up to date...

Hello and welcome to SweClockers!

Love your Air Penetrator series of fans, but I would really appriciate if they also came with PWM-connection. It's such a hassle to dynamically control the speed of the fan, without utilizing that PWM duty cycle from i.e. the CPU-header on the motherboard.

Got a couple of noctua-fans at the moment because of this, performing well, but god damn they are ugly

Sorry. I mistake the specification of RV05. It is ATX.
And FT05 will be released round about the same time as well.

In TJ08-E is 1x AP181 included.
AP181: Speed 700 ; 1200 rpm_by switch http://www.silverstonetek.com/product.php?pid=258&
AP182: Speed 500-2000 rpm_analog control http://www.silverstonetek.com/product.php?scase=&pid=344&area=en

As the fan speed of AP182 start from 500rpm which is more silent, or you still have option to choose PS07?

Welcome.

I'll get right to the point. I love the FT02-chassi, and i am using a "Limited Edition" myself, but i'm very disappointed about the follow up FT03 and (especially!!) FT04 which are plastic and not near the innovation of the FT02 (that was released many years ago). I love the 90° rotation of the motherboard, the brushed aluminium front and unibody design and the 3x180 AP-fans in the bottom and the overpressure of air inside the chassi.

The question is: Will i ever see a REAL follow up of FT02 updated for a new generation of hardware. For exempale real support of E-ATX motherboards, more room for 2.5" HDD/SSD (and preferably on the back of the motherboard tray or somewhere else well hidden), less space used for (if any at all) for 3.5" HDD's - just to name a few changes that would be appreciated. The new FT02 must of course use the same unibody design with alot of brushed aluminium, steelframe and very few plastic parts. And dont forget the positive air pressure on the inside.

Thanks

Regards
Überklass, Unofficial FT02-knight of the round table.

Thank him for the feedback.
Sorry for my delayed answer. Got to double check with PMs and Engineers.

FT03 and FT04 were never designed to replace FT02. All cases in the Fortress series have their specific goals so they are different from each other.

It’s not out of the question that we can make an updated FT02 like we have with TJ04 and TJ08, which resulted in TJ04-E and TJ08-E.
TJ04 http://www.silverstonetek.com/legacy.php?pid=89&area=en&model=tj04&tno=0
TJ04-Ehttp://www.silverstonetek.com/product.php?pid=325
TJ08 http://www.silverstonetek.com/legacy.php?pid=93&area=en&model=tj08&tno=0
TJ08-E http://www.silverstonetek.com/product.php?pid=303

But there is no immediate plan at the moment.
I am afraid you cannot expect it in two years.

Hi, are there any news regarding the Silverstone T004 / (Asus XG2?)?
I read that you guys where trying to have it ready by Q1 2014.

Lets start in a positive fashion: FT05 and RV05 in many ways seems like a quite sensible compressed versions of the original RV02/FT02
... basically cutting out the 5.25 stuff hardly no one uses. Only two 3.5 drives will be tight for some though. (not me)

Still, I cant say I really like the new FT05 externally.. The unibody is gone and the new design seems a bit too square, and I'm very sceptical about that silver strip.. The end result sort of reminds me of some Lian-Li cases from ca 5-10 years ago, and I didnt like those black/silver combos even then

Im not sure I like the design of the top cover either, but havent seen enough of it to be certain. The overall effect somehow doesnt quite pull the same weight as the older FT:s but perhaps we need to get used to it

I'm also slightly concerned about the interior: it seems very stripped out, so I wonder if there's any room for decent cable management?
---
Here's a nice pic of the internals btw:
http://cdn.overclock.net/f/fc/fc75d7e1_FT04-01.jpeg
(The two 3.5 drives sit in a cage below the PSU, and the SSD is on the back of the motherboard as I understand)

It will be very interesting to see a few reviews of this one and see if the new niggles from RV04 and FT04 have been worked out, and how effective the cooling is. (I'd guess it'll go about even with FT02 - at the same fanspeed - despite having one fan less)

That sounds interesting, will you be updating the 180mm? I'm currently using a couple of AP181 and I really like the thick and sturdy frame construction. There's also plenty of room for Heatshrink to cover the colored wires. Unfortunately they make a slight ticking noise at low rpm's and don't start at exactly the same voltage. I don't really like any type of fan controller that is soldered onto the fan. The sticker also isn't exactly stealthy.

I'd like to try the AP182 but can't since it only comes in white.

What I would want in the AP183: It should be available in black, have a single 3pin connector, a sticker that's not white, work well on low voltages and something else that would be awesome is black ribbon wires.

Other than that I'm really excited to see what the FT05 has to offer even though I absolutely love my PS07. The idea of having the motherboard rotated 90 degrees is brilliant!

Was looking in the new DS380 storage manual. Why have regular molex connectors instead of Sata? I find that not many new PSUs use molex anymore. As the industry is moving towards sata power connectors on all new things.

Im guessing that your new SFX psu's have the old molex connector as its a recommended psu. How about your forthcomming 600w SFX psu?
