6800H is better at lower TDP 35W or lower and scale worse 85W seems to be the limit of 6800H Intel 12700H is better at higher TDP 40W or higher and scale better up to 120W

For a Gaming laptop i would say Intel is a superior choice since the TDP is a lot higher than 35W in most Gaming laptop for the CPU.

I remember when you could get a high-end laptop for under 8000. Those were the days.

Anyway, I think Lenovo dropped the ball this year both in terms of pricing and again in availability/release date.
Had the prices been the same or lower than last year I'd be fine with the older RTX-cards. Even though the newer 3070 TI performs about the same as an RTX3080 it still only has 8GB VRAM and is overpriced for the small performance uplift IMO.
Right now the Legion 7i with i9-HX and RTX3080 TI costs 41 thousand at Lenovo (well 37 with 10% off)...

Last year Lenovo had the best bang-for-buck laptops in mid to high price ranges even before all the discounts. Like I brought up in last years L5P vs L7 thread, you could get a L5 with R5 and RTX3060 for 10,5 thousand and a L5P with R7 and RTX3070 for 15-16 thousand, even a L7 with R7 and RTX3070 cost around 17 thousand way earlier than this time last year.

I was a bit hopeful about the AMD Advantage Edition versions of Legion 7 with AMD RX6850 XT but seeing all these high initial prices has me worried. They were even supposed to come out last year with RX6800 and RX6700 but they never came...
I'd say unless you really need the better CPU-power from this year, last years models are still great performance for their price, assuming they will get even lower prices than they had last year and assuming they're still in stock.
