900 series pricing

Last week SweClockers posted an article about target pricing for the 900 series GPU:s that said something along these lines

Geforce GTX Titan X 999 USD
Geforce GTX 980 Ti 649 USD
Geforce GTX 980 499 USD
Geforce GTX 970 329 USD
Geforce GTX 960 199 USD

I wonder how accurate these prices are because at least here in Sweden they are still higher than what is shown above. I have seen some drops for the 980 but will there be price drops for the other cards as well? I am considering a 980 Ti but as it is now it costs 7 500 kr which converts to around 900 USD and that is unfortunately a bit over my budget. The card is still not available though, maybe the price will change when it arrives? I simply do not know and would be super exited if you could be the bearer of good news.

Yours sincerely
An eager guy

Well i hate to break it to you but that's just the way things are here in Sweden. Taxes are extremely high and the pricing you see now is here to stay, or drop a (small) bit. But hey, free healthcare

Higher taxes and also unfortunately the value of the krona to the dollar has been weakened a lot ever since the election last year

Multiplicate with about 11 to get the price in SEK from USD with tax and everything. That is how you have to count with the current market and currency rate. Not nvidias fault.

It still doesn't add up. If you convert from USD to SEK, and then add 25% sales tax, it lands at the pretty reasonable 6895kr. Are the stores using this opportunity to charge a premium, or is it simply because of the lower volumes in Sweden?
Traditionally, just converting the currency and adding taxes has resulted in us getting even lower prices on for example SSD's than the americans (sales tax excluded), as we have a lot of competing stores as well as a strong buying power among enthusiasts because of the uniquely high demand for high-end PC components in Scandinavia.

With 25% sales tax is should land around 6500kr, so the prices might go down a little. But still, it is a lot.

@MrAdde @Semjonov
I think, can't say for sure, it is due to smaller volumes. Also higher tax for companies.

Yes that's a good point. Higher operating costs for companies. Not only due to taxes, but also a higher minimum wage and other social benefits.

Exactly, I thought of that as well but completely forgot to write it.

There is no minimum wage in Sweden.

There are however higher wages on low requirement jobs. (I think, I have not actually checked any statistics.)

That is correct, there is no minimum wage set by the government, because there really isn't a need to. Around 90% of all jobs are covered by collective agreements.

Anyway, I do believe that excluding taxes, operating costs in Sweden are in general higher than in the US.
