People are gonna get bored really quickly, I know because I only played like 20 hours online and I can feel that maybe 20h more and then I probably will be soo tired.
Causes:
1. A part of the thrill when playing is surprises, and how many people have really traded away their perk for faster fire rate, more damage to get an UAV jamer (Firepower rules.)? How fun is it to allways now where the enemy is, and vice versa? And even when like an act of god there is no UAV online (Just happens 15 first seconds of the round). And fire the rifle and you show up on a map? Seriosuly, we already have sound and TRACERS (Wtf.?). And did you really get the guy up in the window or is he still lurking around?
2. It´s raining men, eh, not really, it is raining grenades.
Okay, we have an amazing amount of grenades in this game, and a grenade launcher that arms on very short distances and does WAY more damage than a 7.62 bullit even if it hits your west (death.) seriusly, didn´t catch on to BF2 jump and tube? And even better, we always now where the enemy is.
3. Thought it was annoiyng with people hitting the prone button and firing in most other games in the last ten years? Well, the you propably still do.
4. Seriously award the player and probably the team that is doing really well? Thanks for the game balance. I seriosly don´t think the dude/dues/girls wreaking havoc really needs airstrikes and helicopters to assist him/her/them. It would probably be a good thing to help the team that gets really whopped...
5. The insane amount of wall spamming. Tiny maps and weapons that do huge amount of damage through all kinds of walls. I agree that wall penetration is really needed but you will not fire a 5.56 through a thick stone wall. Combine that with a crosshair that nicely tells you if you hit someone so you can continue to spam the wall. And combine all of the above with a 100 round weapon that behaves like an assault rifle in the game.
6. A machinegun that is an assault rifle. Combine with awesome wall spamming.
7. Small maps, combine with all of the above. Makes a short lived experience.
8. Player ranks on client, well that was the worst idea ever. And the fast rate of progress. But I assume it is just to save some cash....
9. Have a server browser that don´t show essential things. Irritating.
10. Rampant cheating.
Solutions,
1. Disable the enemys from showing up on the “radar”. I agree that the own team is nice to have on the “radar” because it is bloody hard to get any teamplay going on a pub without knowing where the friendlies are. I am also a non deathmessage fan, “did I really get the guy in the window”. Thrilling. I assume that tracers are there for the coolnes factor and also to make it less campy.
2. Lower the amount of “tubing” by, priming distance, it is REALLY short right now. This source says 30m: http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/ground/m203.ht... , that would make it harder to use as a run and gun spray weapon. Lower the amount of grenades flying throught the air, by removing the ultimate spam perk. But please instead of an icon showing us that we have a nade close, make a louder impact noice of the nade instead of that consol port stuff.
3. Just make it so you cant fire or bring up sights when diving to the ground.
4. Make it so that the loosing side gets the “reinforcements”, might get some interesting tactics out of that. Or really raise the bars for getting a helli or airstrike.
5. Lower the bullet penetration on some kinds of walls, remove the x thing that shows that you hit someone, remove it completely and give us some other form of hit recognition.
6. Give it a non assault rifle threatment with slower rate of focusing on the crosshair and slower raising of sights.
7. Bigger and more maps, well, that is like the standard request of any multiplayer game I think.
8. Server side ranking with protection against point harvesting, it should be a struggle to get rank.
9. Fix the server browsers so we can see all servers without pressing reload 15 times (How many know of this fix?). What kind of settings is the server using?
10. Cheat protection with global banning of players busted by the anti-cheat protection. Seriously, it should really cost to cheat (If I am right, haven´t really studied the anti cheat of this game but I got the impression it never bans the keys but just kicks people out of servers(?))!
Now some will say that it will never change, and it probably wont, but I really hope it will. I say that in the current state of the game it won´t last long, they could have built a castle but they fell for the the console gods and just built a nice looking cottage.
Some will say that, hey, the game could be modded for all that, and it probably can and will, but I like it when I get into a server and it is still the same game as on the other servers, so I don´t have to play five rounds before picking up exactly what is on and off.
And some people will probably insult me and tell me to get the make love out of here you noobie and try to start a flamewar. You people just read and stay quit if you can´t be constructive, it is totally acceptable to disagree and totally okay to try to convince me that the way the game is now is better.
