Graphical Problems Since 1.9.0
Hello,
We are receiving reports from customers that they are getting strange Graphical problems since the latest patch for World of Warcraft (1.9.0), to help our investigations try a few steps first.
Some video cards may experience problems displaying certain texturing effects while playing. Graphic issues may include colors shimmering across static textures, textures that appear solid green or white, and patches of texture or even geometry that are invisible.
In general these types of problems can be resolved by updating to the latest video driver, but since you are using a laptop computer, then finding the latest driver for your computer can be tricky. In general you can find the latest drivers for your graphics card on your notebook manufacturer’s homepage.
If updating your drivers did not resolve your problem, then a possible solution to these issues is to turn Specularity and Pixel Shaders to "0".
To do this, please do the following:
- Open the World of Warcraft folder on your hard drive.
- Open the WTF folder.
- Open the Config.wtf file using a text editor, like Notepad.
- Change SET specular "1" to SET specular "0"
- Change SET pixelShaders "1" to SET pixelShaders "0"
- Save the file and start World of Warcraft again.
The two lines should look like this after they have been changed:
SET specular "0"
SET pixelShaders "0"
You can also try to run the game in Opengl mode instead of the standard direct3D mode:
-Right-click on the World of Warcraft icon on your desktop.
-Select "Properties".
-Select the "Shortcut" tab.
-In the "Target" textbox, add " -opengl" to the end of the string, e.g. "C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\WoW.exe" -opengl.
If you continue to have problems after you tried the above mentioned things, then please contact our Technical Support team for further assistance:
