Citat:

"The message is clear, this time Nintendo has made a game unafraid to stand tall beside those two previous titles (OOT, LTTP) widely regarded as the greatest in a series of greats. This is no 'what if' whimsy like the WW or the minish cap. TP is Zelda by the book and there's every sign that it's the most involved, the most ambitious, the just plain biggest zelda there's ever been."

"The sheer amount of content in TP is overwhelming. It throws new skills, items and intriguing twists at you far faster than any zelda before it."

"Epona is no slender pony this time, instead a solid, gigantic, invincible animal."

During the first 6 hours you will have done more than the equivalent of 3 dungeons in on any other zelda game in terms of new items, skills etc.

The first dungeon reminiscent of the forest temple is

"though hardly hard, it's probably as involved and suprising as any other initial zelda dungeon, if not more so."

"you begin to get a sense of the sheer dizzying scope of TP, it threatens to be absolutely immense, an epic seldom rivalled in scale outside the rpg form (and never by another launch game) and loaded heavier than ever with items, details and possibilities as yet unseen in a test that made 6 hours feel like 6 minutes."

"It's almost forbidding, TP is certainly no populist rethink of zelda, in tune with the popular all cuddly all access Wii. It is instead an all guns blazing assault on the hardcore, a fanboys wet dream (if there's any worry at all it's that it might overburden itself)"

"That's reflected in the involved controls of the wii version, though not as off putting as the E3 demo, when introduced and gradually relaxed into over time, they are delicate, sometimes demanding and occasionally frustraing. Attack gestures flow beautifully, but are sticky to start and jumping to pointer aiming can be awkward and dis-orientating. However they more than make up for it with tremendous tactile excitement, the shrill thrill of the speaker effects and the very real and seriously welcome freedom and comfort that comes from having your hands attached by 3 feet of wire, not 3 inches of plastic. . Factor in the Wii only widescreen support -no small consideration- and it's clear which version is a must have."

"The questions it answers are the important ones. Is it a challenge? Is it a mystery? Will it make your heart stop? Is it Zelda? Yes, yes, yes and yes."

hot damn!

Mums

Lite reviews:

Citat:

IGN:

On the other hand, we have nothing but praise for the title's new Wii controls, which enhance the experience - not detract from it. The general gameplay mechanics are similar to Wind Waker. Link is able to run through immense environments, target enemies, strafe around them, swipe and slash them with his blade and also use a variety of weapons in battle or to advance through a location. These polished fundamentals have been passed forward from Ocarina of Time to Majora's Mask and then to Wind Waker, and they are again serving as the backbone for Twilight Princess. The big difference, of course, is that on Wii you use both Nintendo's nunchuk attachment and its innovative new remote to manipulate Link and his weapons/items respectively. Gesturing with the Wii remote, you can easily and effortlessly swing the hero's sword. The gestures don't effect one-to-one movement, as so many had hoped - and yes, it would've been nice if the Big N could have pulled it off. However, they perfectly replace the need for button taps - a requirement in the GameCube version -- and after only a few minutes of familiarization become the preferable way to play. You don't need to flail your arms around like a monkey on fire in order to accurately control Link's blade - you can choose to make minimal movements and you will never run into a single issue. You can, alternatively, exact long, arching gestures and they will work, too. You won't get tired. Our arms weren't aching after more than 50 hours of play time. We weren't out of breath. In contrast, we found ourselves much more immersed in the experience of combat, as simulating a sword swipe is simply more engaging and therein more satisfying than pressing a button.

Furthermore, the advantages of the Wii remote become blindingly clear when Link uses projectile weapons. Whether the hero is armed with the Gale Boomerang, the Slingshot, the Hookshot or a great new staff whose power we won't spoil, targeting with the pointer is so far and away better than using an analog stick that the latter feels archaic and broken by comparison. The Wii remote opens up a level of speed and accuracy never before experienced in a Zelda title and you will within a matter of hours be able to ride Epona through Hyrule Field while delivering fatal bow-and-arrow headshots to ground-based and airborne foes. To the point: this new method of control obliterates the former one and there is no going back.

Gamespy:

So essentially, what you're playing is a port of the GameCube version of Twilight Princess that's been retooled for the Wii. The biggest difference is of course the addition of the new motion-sensitive control scheme. I'm happy to report that the Wii Remote and the Nunchuk do an incredibly admirable job of making the game a lot of fun to play. In fact, I'd go as far as to say that this is a preferable method of controlling the game than a regular joypad. Movement, exploration and combat are highly accurate and if you fail or die, it's not the system's fault, but rather your own. I know this has been the biggest concern for many Zelda lovers and gamers in general, but I can't overstate this enough -- the Wii makes for a superb Zelda gaming experience.

Citat:

1Up:

And thanks to precision and ease of use of the control interface, you can plant an arrow right between those eyes from that distance, too. The game's move to the Wii was a worrying change for many who feared it threatened to compromise a solidly crafted adventure for the sake of proving that the Wii can too play host to this kind of game. But those worries were ultimately needless: Twilight Princess is great on Wii. The remote-swinging sword attacks create a streamlined interface that allows for the most impressive swordplay the series has yet seen. While the Wii's button layout is a bit unwieldy, the core mechanics are as solid as ever. And though you don't have to move the controller vigorously to cause Link to attack, it's impossible not to get caught up in the heat of a particularly intense boss fight. At some point, you will find yourself leaning forward in your seat, flailing away with the Wii Remote before twisting your right hand to finish off your foe with a quick spin attack.

Gamerz-Edge Wrote

One of the first things you’re probably wondering about is whether or not it’s worth getting the Wii version of Twilight Princess instead of the GameCube version (after all, you may already have a GameCube). Well, although I haven’t yet played the GameCube version myself, if I were to compare the Wii version controls with anything possible on a conventional analog stick + buttons controller (such as that of the GameCube), I’d easily choose the Wii remote. Not for swordplay specifically—slashing your Wii-mote around really isn’t that much more engrossing—but rather, for the aiming controls alone. Once you’ve aimed a bow and arrow by pointing the Wii remote at the television screen, you’ll never want to turn back. It takes a mere ten minutes to master the art, and then it’s hard to imagine how a simple control stick ever sufficed to begin with.

Apart from the obvious advantage with respect to aiming, however, the Wii controller also just feels more comfortable in your hands. Even after playing for ten to twelve hours straight, I hardly experienced any fatigue (apart from the mental variety) and I never knew a hint of the carpal tunnel or soreness that is common when playing for such extended sessions with a normal controller. The entire control scheme just works, and it feels more natural than you probably expect.

Menu selection is also performed with the Wii-mote, and it’s much more convenient this way. You even get an in-game pointer of sorts (a fairy) that can be used to point at objects and people with whom Link can interact. While I honestly don’t use this very often, I appreciate the option. Skeptics will also rejoice at the inclusion of a sensitivity adjustment of sorts that asks you to match the size of a box on the TV screen with that of your sensor bar. Properly calibrated, the pointer controls work very well, even if the approach to swordfighting control by swiping the Wii remote to and fro really isn’t anything special.

TSA:

Despite some issues with the control setup that really amount to a preference choice, Twilight Princess on Wii does actually play rather intuitively. The bottom line is quite simple; the Wii Remote and Nunchuk make playing Zelda easier than playing it on the GCN. For most, who find the older versions’ game play rather good, but sometimes a bit too complex for perfection, Twilight Princess delivers a setup that is very easy to learn, and the game is setup perfectly as to take you through the motions early enough so you can tackle the later areas like a pro.

The setup does take some time to get used to, but the initial area and dungeons serve as tutorials for getting used to the basic and advanced game play mechanics. In Ordon Village, you start off with equipment that allows the player to familiarize themselves with the aiming mechanics, the swordplay, basic movements and changing between weapons. These four areas of the game play, once the player has become accustomed to, are essential to enjoying the game and really play out well as the game progresses. "Twilight Princess is the new standard not only in The Legend of Zelda, but the standard in Nintendo’s franchises."

The swordplay really does amount to nothing more than pressing a button at first, but as you progress through the game, Link learns new moves that require more than just the flick of the wrist. This pay-off really rewards gamers and reassures those who doubted the uniqueness of the swordplay, especially if you were expecting 1:1 controls. The aiming probably takes the longest to get used to, having to point, aim and fire weapons with sometimes relatively high-precision. There are ample situations early on that allow the player to grasp the mechanics and become relatively at ease with the functionality, so that later on in the game where there are more complicated situations, players aren’t frustrated. Still, there are points where you will find yourself a bit flustered, but it’s more due to the difficulty of the situation rather than the Wii’s inability to give great control. In fact, on the GCN controller, these situations would be just as difficult.

Ja, jag är rätt sugen på att skaffa Zelda nu iaf

Citat:

On 11/19 the Wii received a new game from Nintendo titled Legend of Zelda. Since then 21 sites and magazines have reviewed it including GameSpy, UnderGroundOnline, Lawrence and GamersMark. Together their reviews have resulted in an average ratio of 96.5%. That ratio has resulted in this title becoming the 2nd best game of all time and the 1st best game on the Wii.

Can anyone say system seller?
