My brand new TX 650 V2 is the loudest PSU I've ever heard.

It seems that the fan controller isn't working at all and the fan constantly spins at 100%, and it's really loud at that levels. Should I try to replace it or just feel like a damn idiot for paying up a large amount of money for what I thought to be a high quality PSU?

I bought it online from Webhallen, would it be worth a shot to ask for a replacement unit from their local store?

Just got a new unit, seems to be jsut as loud tohugh. I guess that this will be the first/last time I buy a PSU from Corsair...

Utnyttja returrätten tycker jag.

It shouldn't be loud. If you look at the noise chart for the TX650 v2, the fan doesn't spin up until around 50% of the total wattage, so if the fan is constantly spinning at a higher rpm, it suggests that the load from your PC is constantly high. What is your system spec?

Shitty psu appearantly.. Ure not the only one that has problems with that particular PSU revving up on highest RPM. I'd recommend choosing another of Corsairs psu's, like their gaming series for example is fairly quiet (my buddy's got one in his setup)

I read that there is a specific manufacturing series of this PSU that has this defect. So I've been waiting a while to replace it a third time, also waiting to get a chance to get into town and replace it.

And, it's not too high system load. I've tried to start it with the paperclip hack and it spins right up to maximum speed.

Let me check into it for you. Can you give me the LOT number of the PSU please - or a photo of the UPC sticker or label from the box will do.

The new one is 11477012. I don't know what the old one had but I think it too began with 11.

There's no known issue for this. If you PM me with your name/address/tel. I'll see about getting it collected for analysis, and obviously replaced so that you're not without a PSU.

Would like to know if people has got any updates on this? Got mine just less than a week ago and it's also really loud. Would like to know if anyone got this sorted before i open it up myself to change the fan.
Best Regards

I'd get it replaced at your reseller. If you crack it open you'll void the warranty.

yeah, it's on its to the reseller as we speak, but looking around in forums many resellers seem to just say that the loudness isn't an issue that it's supposed to sound that much but it's definetly louder than the 25 decibel that i've seen on the charts Corsair themself posted.
It seems like the pwm is faulty on a major part of these PSU's cause my fan as well as many others are maxed out from the far beginning when start the computer.
If they refuse to exchange it, will it be possible to take further action with you instead?

Same problem with mine

I've had it for about 7 months now and it has always been noisy.

If the computer is on idle , the PSU fan spins on full load.

I got the Define R3 and if you crouch down and listen where the sound comes from you can tell it's the PSU blowing out insane amounts of air. But the sound may be increased due to my wooden floor? (the noise bounces on the floor up towards my ears). If I have the computer onto a carpet , the sound is dampened.
