So then we are ready to test memory.
Tool we need for this is memtest86+
http://www.memtest.org/#downiso
Why is it important to use this tool??
If you gone RMA you chip, the shop will for sure use this tool.
It can make the hole RMA prosses harder if memory pass in shop.
There is a problem with memtest an 680i.
It will pass on to high volt to memory.
So a rule for 680i LOW VOLT TO MEMORY GIVE BETTER STABILITY.
To high volt can kill memory on 680i.

Testing is the same 2-4-8GB memory
I gone talk abought 4GB because many have problem with it.
Patch link for vista
http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?id=20070426212656702&boar...
First as always on 680i we gone set some correct parameters in bios.
Never test on default bios setting.
Bios must be 1002 or 1102 or newer.
Here is 4GB fix for most memory.
I did a test to be sure with 0302(here was max 667mhz 4GB)
Sli reay disable dont like it,and it has nothing to do with performence.
So i gone use my memory as an exp.
Crucial 6400 4GB 4.4.4.12 800mhz
So this is how my bios config will look
Nothing OC when we test.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Then i will start with 2GB in blue slot.
Then boot memtest(i never boot windows before i have testet memory in memtest)
Bad memory can destroy files an windows.
Then just watch that no error come.
I would recomend 1 pass.
If you dont have time be sure it pass test 5(test 5 is the hardest and ofen here you get error)
If error try go a little higer than 2.0v
So it pass with 0 error in blue slot.
Then we put next match par in white slot
And we do the same.
If it work we now that all memory and all slot work.
Then we put in all memory.
And we start lower mzh,to make sure they work together(500mzh)
And boot metest 0 error on 500mzh
Then try at default speed 800mzh.
0 error then we have working 4GB MEMORY.
-------------------------TIMEINGS AND DIVIDERS---------------------------------
Here is a god guide explaining timeings for 680i
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?p=2125236#...
So dividers have done some explaining in picture.
I use unlink then board auto choose dividers
Close to what i explain in picture.
On this board there are dividers that are stronger than other.
This is important to know if you gone oc this board.
Here i gone use Kunnak testing as exp.
Qutoe:
500 FSB - 800 mhz ram = no boot.
500 FSB - 1000 mhz ram = works fine.
500 FSB - 1100 mhz ram = boots, but very touchy.
500 FSB - 1200 mhz ram = solid works great.
500 FSB - 1250 mhz ram = solid, works fine, just need alittle voltage.
500 FSB - 1300 mhz ram = boots, but unstable, not usable for long term (haha... I cant honestly expect 1300 mhz to be stable)
now heres the monkey wrench...
1200 was stable at 500...
but try 400 FSB - 1200 mhz ram... and it wont boot.
Again, theres some welll just touchy dividers there that just dont seem to like various combinations of FSB and ram.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So try many combo of dividers if it will not boot.
A rule is that board like rund numbers better than 1144 1884 and so on
That why pepole can get trouble with memory that have 1111mzh 1140 and so on as mzh.
Some time better to go lower on CAS and mhz.
1066mhz @ 2,175 5-4-4-12-2T-Auto-23-Auto-Auto-Auto
800mhz @ 2,050 4-3-4-10-2T-Auto-19-Auto-Auto-Auto
So when in windows there has to be done stability test.
I use prime blend and 3dmark.
Long test in memtest is a god thing to.
If you get bluscreen-frezze-lock in win
very ofen is memory.
Things to do.
Try go lower-volt-loser timings-lower mzh memory to see if it get better.
Delete swapfile-defrag overall windows knowlegde is important
to.
edit ::::
har uppdaterat bios och nu går det fin fint på default
inga inställningar i bios ....
