New v2000 owner getting worried

I recently bought the vengeance 2000 but all these reports/talks/threads going around the net about them cracking has me second guessing.
I still have the opportunity to return them to the store for a full refund, an option that lasts me for another week.
But I do love the headset, aside from some issues i believe will come resolved in the future, but if ill be forced to exchange them ever half year/year due to them falling apart, i dont know if its worth the hassle. Corsair should be praised for their support to those with broken/faulty headsets though, if only all companies was like this.
As ive seen corsair been posting around here i be very happy to have some questions asnwered:

1. I read in another thread that you said that the issue with the plastic cracking has been resolved since you had found the source of the problem early.
But reports of these cracking headsets has been coming for a long time. I understand that if the first batch was faulty, there will be many of them left in stores worldwide for quite some time. But what are the odds of my headset, bought only a few days ago, to be of the newer version?
Is there a way to tell the difference between the old and new?

2. The microphone has very low volume, even when all possible settings for chat is set to max, ill have to talk really loud for it to be a decent volume for the listeners. Is this something that will be adressed in the next update/drivers?

3. Im having extremely bad reception. If i move only 3-4 meters from the dongle, it starts crackling and losses the audio every now and then. In other words, completely useless if i wanna walk around the apartment listening to music.

These three issues are the dealbreakers for me, the first two moreso then the third which is really just annoying but not all to important to me.
But the cracking, and the mic volume IS important and I am trying to find out about these two things quickly as it will decide for me if im going to keep the headset or return it.

Thanks and btw, im greatly impressed by corsairs customer support. This product might be somewhat of a disappointment but the company, and its employees sure arent.

Thanks

1. If your head set is fairly a recent purchase, then chances are good that these are the later version where the cracking issue has already been fixed. BUT, just it so happens that you get an older unit, let me know and I'll make sure that we get it replaced with the a newer version. Until then, there is no need to worry about the headset.

2. As for the mic, you'll just have to position the mic boom to a certain angle to optimize voice pick up.

3. I'd recommend that you put the dongle where there is always a clear path between the headset and the dongle. Are you using the USB extension? Maybe put the dongle on your desk and see if that will improve connectivity.

Tnx for the quick answer, it makes me more confident to keep the headset.

But about the mic volume, i know i can find a sweetspot where the mic caps my voice the best, but even in this position its to low.
We should be able to adjust between way to high and way to low, so everyone can find a good level after preference.
Myself, im often gaming late at night and to not disturb my neighbours and GF, ill have to speak really quiet and this mic just isnt picking up enough for it to be useful.

Im wondering if you could say if we will get an option to raise it even more in the next software release?
Many are having this issue, and just adjusting the volume for the software control cant be too hard for you guys.

Anyway, thanks again for the quick reply, as of right now im most likely sticking with these ones, as mentioned they are really comfortable and sounds great!

No problem at all

There is no time table at this point for a later Software version, but as soon that I gain knowledge of this, I'll definitely let you guys know right away.
