My brand new Corsair RM1000 PSU doesn't work.

Hey.

I'm a very unhappy individual right now. I got my Corsair RM1000 PSU today and I switched out my old Corsair TX650W and conneted the RM1000 but it doesn't start. If I switch back to the TX650 everything works fine.

I have done the paper clip test and it works for fans and hard drives. But whenever I plug it in to the motherboard it doesn't even light the LED on the motherboard. But as mentioned previously as soon as I switch back to TX650W it works. What is going on here?

I was really hoping to use it over the weekend now that's not going to happen. (Sorry, a bit grumpy).

Spelling mistakes.

I have been waiting patiently for an response (still do) and while I was doing so I was testing around a bit.

So I mentioned that it worked with fans and HDD. I tried it on my old sockel 775 motherboard and it worked.
So I had a few things I knew at this point.

My old TX650 worked with everything, my new RM1000 worked with everything except my current motherboard. So there's clearly a compatibility issue going on here.

So if this thread can help anyone out there please by all means don't remove it.

Corsair put a compatibility list on your website because this is something the consumer should not have to deal with especially when the TX650 is several years older than RM series, you would expect it would work just as good or better. What a let down.

Sorry to hear that.. and sorry to replying late, you posted this weekend, I don't normally post over the weekends.

There is no reason to remove your post, matter of fact, it is important feedback because we are not aware that RM1000 is not compatible with that specific MB, provided that compatibility is indeed the case. So do not know at this point util further testing.

I will pass this along to our PSU team and see if this is really the case or perhaps something else. So far, you've explained your current situation quite clear and you've also done a great job trouble shooting it yourself, by trying the PSU on a different board, so, It'll be much easier for us to analyze the problem from our side given the data at hand.

I will get back to you on this once I get a more definitive answer.

By the way, have you tried by any chance the RM1000 PSU with any of the newer Intel chipset? like Z68 or higher? I don't want to think that this is a chipset issue, but just want to make sure for additional info. Thanks

I have ordered a ASUS Maximus VI Hero which is Z87 and I should be getting it tomorrow or on Wednesday.

The biggest reason why I even bought it is because of the PSU so I'm really hoping it will work.

I have turned in this issue with our validation team. I'll keep you posted once I get an answer from them. Keep me posted as well when you get the chance to try it on your Maximus VI board.

The Asus board works as well. I'm happy (I guess) that a got a new motherboard and CPU but can't help but feel kind of ripped off because of this PSU. I did not plan on any new PC related parts for my system but I had to.

Who knew the one motherboard I had would not work with a PSU from 2013.
Oh well. As long as you guys put this up on your website hopefully something good has come out of this.

Glad to hear that DMC. We'll put up a note if this is indeed a compatibility issue. We're in the process of replicating the issue, just need that specific board (MSI P55) then we'll start testing. What ever our findings are, we'll make it public. Thanks
